The dispute involves CBS's parent company, Paramount, and YouTube TV's parent company, Google. Live 5 WCSC is not owned by CBS, and WCSC-TV's parent company, Gray Media, is not involved in any of the negotiations between Paramount and Google. In July 2023, six people ranging from ages seven to 101 years old were found dead following a house fire in the Green Pond community on Folly Creek Lane around 11 a.m. Ryan Lenard Manigo was arrested in connection with the deaths and is facing 21 charges, including the death of his 11-year-old daughter.
